Abraham's second grade Physical Education Program:This quarter second grade goal is to meet the physical activity needs of all students. Research has shown that exercise increases nerve connections and provides nutrients in the form of glucose to the brain. This makes it easier for students of all ages, sizes and shapes to learn. And also to have more energy all day long in school. Class objectives: First grade students will learn the following:Ready, set,in sports positions, Locomotor skills, Rolling, Trowing, Catching, Passing, Dribbling, Striking, Kicking and Punting. Mindfully building sportsmanship for success. Also Soccer games, Striking games, Basketball games, Kick ball games, Soft ball games, Medicine ball games along with speed- agility and quickness drills.
Did You know?Repeated and persistent exposure to movement activities for children between the ages of three and ten is necessary to keep neutral circuits alive and functioning at optimal levels. Not only must the neural connections be establish through participation in a wide variety of activities, but repetition is necessary to maintain these connections for a life time. The cerebellum is the area of the brain most commonly linked to movement. It takes up to 1/10th of the brain volume and contains over half the neurons. The part of the brain that processes movement also processes learning.
